Dutch Tiger Cub

Hey all. Hereīs my Tiger cub engine. On the positive side there is: Bored cylinder with new 9:1 (I think) piston. Head done with new valves, clutch is all new, new primery chain, new slideblock oilpump+early pump in good nick, two sets of timing covers, gearbox looks good, R cam. On the negative side: Most bolt, nuts and washers are missing, one timing outer cover badly worn, gearlever and kickstarter spindle both worn, 3 small fines on the head broke.
The cases looks new at least thereīs no wear to be seen anywhere, all threats are good and thereīs no numbers.

Thanks guys.
With a workshop of only 3x4meters I need to keep it tidy. Thereīs at present 2 bikes (750 Bonnie & 850 Commando) and a Solex in the shed. My girlfriend just sold her Hinckley Bonnie, but will probably buy a bike in the spring. And thereīs actually also another Bonnie to be build up...

Hey.
Hereīs a little opdate. Iīve just added this Betor front end. No, itīs not original, but itīll be a Trial bike and on this side of the pond weīre allowed to use newer forks ect. Needs a little polish and new seals. Then I just need the rest...;)

Hey I like the look of that!!
I might need some of those? I had a go at a trial yesterday and in one section I hit a rock a bit hard and my forks compressed and stayed there, it took some wiggling to get them to rise again.

I have yet to investigate further......

just a word of caution, there is 1.5 degess of rake built into the cub yokes. If you use the betor yorks without altering the frame, you will increase the trail making it harder to turn.

The yokes are straight. If I get it right, this should give me a steeper frontfork angel. That should be okay for Trial.

Hey.
Iīve found a frame in Denmark and Iīm going to pick it up in the christmas holiday. Is there anything to look for when buying a Tiger Cub frame, whereīs the weak points? There is a bash plate on the frame, so I keep my fingers crossed that itīs a trial frame, with the wide swingingarm.

Bear in mind Dan that you'll be looking at something that's in the region off 50 years old

Apart from corrosion, check all the welded points and ensure that the frame is straight and not damaged or bent

I'm sure someone will give you other points to check

Dan
Have a look at this page:- Clicky URL
Although it is predominantly Japanes frames and modern bikes it can be applied to a 50 year old Cub frame in many respects.

Hi dan

The frame would be better if it's the sports/ trials frame with the double gussets on the frame/headstock.

Hey.
Hereīs a photo of the frame, what do you think?
Looks like they have extended the swingingarm, but looks like it could be cut back to standard, so Iīm not too worried about that.

Single gusset... Ehh... Thatīs the triangle between the two frametubes where they meet under the hearstock, right?
