59/61 Trials Cub
I live in the UK on the south coast near Eastbourne.
The bike, where do I start?
As you probably know, the 4" wide rear tyre won't fit without a great deal of difficulty. By using a Bantam Bushman swinging arm some of the trouble is alleviated. (It is three eighths of an inch wider.) Then by off setting the wheel by the width of a sprocket you can just get enough clearance to make it work. The arm is also an inch longer than standard, (my mod). Suspension units are 1" longer than standard and the rear subframe has been widened to fit the hich level exhaust pipe.
Not much done to the engine other than an alloy clutch pressure plate, rebalanced crank and a 13 tooth engine sprocket. Final drive sprocket is also 13 tooth and the rear 64. Front forks are at the moment heavyweight cub items but I am trying to fit some Honda TL125 forks to give me more front end travel. 5" as opposed to the standard 3".
As a relative beginer to trialing the bike at present suits my ability but I love modifying it. I have now got another frame and engine so that I can modify the new one even more, I will however not use japanese forks but will endeavour to get more travel on the cub ones.
The engine as well will be more modified with a cam and 250 conversion which we can get over here from SERCO as superb engineering firm that specialises in cubs.
Oh for a large pot of gold to spend on the bikes. Keep in touch, I hope this will do for now. I will let you know what the new front end performs like after the next trial on the 28 May (2000).
Drop back later for an update, after 28 May!
