Steve:  Last summer I found this T20 in Wisconsin.  A very nice bike for me to restore.  Has all its parts and now needs some TLC.  When I finish the work, I'll send you an "after" photo.  Best regards - Jim Roberts

Dear Steve:

I promised you that I would send an “AFTER” photo of the bike when it was completed.  Last October I fired up my “Tigger” (started on the first kick!).  What fun I have had doing this total restoration.  I took it to the swap meet and show at Woodstock (IL) and there were many comments of praise by onlookers (really made me feel good for the TLC and many hours put in getting the bike finished).

The Cub was 100% disassembled and down to bare metal.  I had the frame powder coated and the tin matched in Aztec red urethane paint.  Though this was a silver ’57 Cub, I had a red ’58 T20J when I was a kid of 14.  I was compelled to paint it red so I could relive my boyhood memories.  I use to cruise around my hometown with a group of my friends who had Whizzers and Cushmans.  There was a 14 year old driving law in effect at the time in Illinois.  It lasted for two years.  We had good times impressing ourselves, and the local “fuzz”.  The Cub was the leader of the pack.

I traded the Cub to a fella from the south side of Chicago who wanted to fix it up to race flat track at the Santa Fe Speedway.  I got a Norton 500 in exchange, but always missed my little Cub.  The lower end bearing had blown and I did not have the money or knowledge to fix it.

You may recall that I was looking for a Cub for several years.  Just want to say thanks again for your website!  I have met many Cub enthusiasts through E-mail who have been quite helpful with technical advise on my Tiger Cub.  Special thanks go to Bill Reimenschneider of Super T Specialties in State Center, Iowa, and also to Martyn Adams (UK), Ray Corlew, Greg Bidou, and Allan Robinson.

I was able to get the Cub titled initially through Alabama.  This saves a lot of grief in the Illinois lost title process.  It now has an Illinois antique motorcycle license plate, “57 CUB”.

Keep in touch!  -- and Happy New Year!   Regards, Jim

p.s.:  Feel free to include this message and the attached digital picture of Tigger in your website along with my first message and the picture of "BEFORE".
